Afro Futcha is the creative alias of Diane Laidlaw, a multi-award-winning British AI filmmaker, creative technologist and music producer. Her work fuses Black culture across the diaspora with a dark, emotionally charged visual language rooted in horror, psychological narrative and Afro-futurism. She gravitates towards misunderstood characters and stories of systemic failure. Her wins include: 1st place at Project Odyssey 2025 Winner at Jeju Global (Korea), Escape Ai The Chroma Awards, PixVerse and Neuromasters and several others/ Most Inspirational Woman of Web3 and AI at the WOW Awards She has also been a finalist at the Austin AI Film Festival and Runway's Gen:48 as well as many others.
