Getting Started

Find your account type, get verified and make your profile ready.

What can I do with a company account?

Choose Hire to post jobs and projects, invite teammates and manage hiring. Choose Hire and Get Work if your company also wants to supply project work; this is shown publicly as an Agency. Your team can only use the features allowed by its assigned permissions.

What can I do with an agency account?

An agency uses Hire and Get Work. You can post jobs and projects, invite teammates and manage hiring, as well as apply to and deliver marketplace projects. To supply work, your company must be verified and your public profile ready, including at least 3 published portfolio pieces with ready media or a project link.

What can I do as a creative?

You can apply to jobs, pitch for paid marketplace projects and commission your own projects. Complete identity verification and your profile requirements before applying. Employment is managed directly with the hiring company; marketplace project delivery and payment run through GenHQ.

How do I verify my company or agency?

Select your registered company and complete the company details. You can confirm a work email on your company’s domain, or use the document-review route and submit evidence of the company and your authority to represent it. Document review allows a personal email and an optional website. Confirm your email, then wait for the review decision. Your selected login email is used to access the account.

Can I browse while my identity verification is pending or rejected?

Yes. You can browse public jobs and projects while verification is pending or unsuccessful. Applying requires successful identity verification and a ready profile. Follow the verification instructions to complete or retry the check.

How many portfolio pieces do I need?

You need at least 3 published portfolio pieces with ready media or a saved project link for your profile to appear publicly. Processing or failed uploads do not count. Creative portfolios can hold up to 7 pieces. Keep your verification and profile requirements complete as well; dropping below the publication minimum hides your profile again.

Can my teammates help manage the account?

Yes. Invite teammates through Team Access and assign the permissions they need. Access to listings, applications, messages, billing and other workspace features depends on those permissions.

Jobs & Hiring

From posting a role to choosing the right person.

What is the difference between a job and a project?

A job is an employment role: the company manages interviews, contracts, salary and the working relationship outside GenHQ. A project is a defined piece of paid work: the owner publishes a brief, selects a supplier and funds it through Stripe Checkout. Delivery, review and project payments stay in GenHQ.

How do job listing credits work?

Publishing or renewing a job uses one credit. If you have none left, purchase credits at checkout. Current packages are 1 credit for $149, 3 credits for $349, 5 credits for $499, 10 credits for $849, before applicable tax. Unused credits do not expire while your company account remains active Job credits do not include salary or project funding.

How long does a job stay live?

A published job stays live for 30 days. If you still need to hire, renew it using another credit. Renewing keeps your applicant and conversation history.

What happens to other applicants when a company selects a hire?

The job closes and its other open applications are declined. Companies manage the decision in their Jobs workspace; creatives can follow their application status in Applications.

Does GenHQ handle salary or employment payments?

No. GenHQ charges the company for job listing credits, but salary, payroll and the employment relationship are arranged directly between the company and the person it hires. A job application does not create a paid marketplace order.

Applying for Work

Send a proposal, manage applications and know when to start.

How do I apply to a job?

Open an eligible job, read the requirements and submit the requested details and supporting evidence. Track progress in Applications and use Inbox for related conversations. You need a verified identity and a published, ready profile to apply.

How do I apply to a marketplace project?

Browse Projects or Matches, review the scope, budget and deadline, then submit your proposal and the requested samples. For an open tender, include your proposed price. You cannot apply to your own listing. An agency applies through an eligible team member with permission to manage applications.

Does it cost anything to apply?

No. Applying to jobs or projects is free. For paid projects, GenHQ’s 10% supplier commission is deducted from your earnings. You are not charged an upfront application fee. Employment salary is handled outside GenHQ.

Can I withdraw my application?

You can withdraw while the application is still eligible for withdrawal and has not been awarded. If you have already been selected, use the project workspace and contact the owner or support to resolve the situation; withdrawing an application does not cancel a funded order.

Can I apply to more than one project?

Yes. You can manage applications to different listings at the same time. Check your capacity before committing: you remain responsible for the scope and deadline of each project you accept.

I have been selected. Can I start work?

Wait until the project shows Payment Secured. Selecting a supplier starts the checkout process, but does not itself prove that payment has completed. Check the funded order and agreed deadline before starting paid work.

Posting a Project

Shape your brief, choose a budget and set your deadline.

Can I publish a project for free?

Yes. Verified creatives, companies and agencies can publish a project brief without a listing charge. Define the deliverables, timing and budget. You pay when you complete checkout to fund your selected supplier. Job listing credits are separate.

Is there a minimum project value, and what are the fees?

The current minimum project value is $200. The project owner pays the agreed project value plus the disclosed 5% owner fee and applicable tax. A separate 10% supplier commission is deducted from the supplier’s earnings. Review the currency and final amounts shown at checkout.

Do I have to set a fixed price?

No. Choose a fixed price or an open tender. With an open tender, applicants propose a price for you to review alongside their proposal. The winning application determines the agreed amount and included revision allowance.

Can more than one supplier work on the same project?

Each project currently has one role and one selected supplier. Publish separate briefs if you need to commission separate pieces of work.

How long can a project run?

The project deadline can be no more than 60 days after publication. That is a calendar deadline, not a fresh 60-day period starting at payment. For longer engagements, consider an employment contract or separate projects with clear deliverables.

How long do I have to review applications and award a project?

Follow the application closing date and delivery deadline shown on your listing. Applications close before delivery is due, and the award must be made while the project deadline is still in the future. Leave enough time for the supplier to deliver after funding.

Awarding & Funding

Choose your supplier and get the project moving.

When exactly am I charged for a project?

Choosing a supplier takes the project owner to Stripe Checkout. Payment is taken when checkout is completed, not automatically when a supplier is selected. The supplier should wait for Payment Secured before starting work.

Do I need all my reference materials ready before awarding?

You can add images, videos, documents or links when the funded workspace opens, or return to add them later. Share materials and instructions promptly. Funding does not reset the delivery date, so waiting for assets reduces the time available to complete the agreed work.

Delivery & Revisions

Keep work on track, review a delivery and request changes.

Can we message each other before delivery?

Yes. Use Inbox and the project workspace to share context, clarify the brief and discuss progress. Keep important instructions and files attached to the project. During an active dispute, ordinary project messages and delivery actions are paused while the dispute is reviewed.

How do I submit completed work?

Open the funded project in Active Projects and submit your deliverables through its delivery flow. Sending a message alone is not the same as submitting delivery. Submission starts the owner’s five-calendar-day review window.

How many revision rounds are included?

Projects below $500 USD include no revision rounds; projects from $500 USD to below $1,500 USD include one revision round; projects from $1,500 USD include two. For other currencies, use the allowance shown on your project. The allowance is confirmed at award, based on the agreed price or winning application, and shown in the project workspace.

What happens if the project owner does not review the delivery?

The owner has five calendar days after each delivery to approve it or request an available revision. If the review window expires without action, the order can complete automatically and the supplier’s payment becomes eligible for release, subject to payment, dispute and payout checks. Check the review countdown in the workspace.

How long does a revision take, and does it change the original deadline?

The supplier has five calendar days after a revision request to resubmit. The owner then has a new five-calendar-day review window. The original deadline governs initial delivery; revisions and reviews have their own timers. Check the dates shown on the project.

What if I need more time or cannot complete the work?

Contact the owner promptly and use the deadline-extension action where available. The owner must accept an extension before you can rely on the new deadline. If the work cannot continue, use the available project resolution actions or contact support. Do not assume a message or withdrawal cancels the funded agreement.

Payments & Payouts

Understand fees, payment records and the journey to your bank.

Where can I find the payment receipt for a project I funded?

After successful funding, the project owner receives a GenHQ payment receipt. Find your purchase and payment records in Billing. Selecting a supplier without completing checkout does not issue a paid receipt. Refund adjustments are recorded separately from the original payment.

How does payment reach my bank account?

Complete Stripe Connect payout setup first. When the work is complete and release checks pass, GenHQ can transfer eligible earnings to your connected Stripe balance. Stripe then pays your bank according to your account’s payout schedule and eligibility. Sent to Stripe and Paid to Bank are separate steps; check Payouts and your Stripe account for progress.

Can I choose automatic or manual bank payouts?

Available payout controls depend on your connected Stripe account and its configuration. Check the payout settings and estimated arrival date in your Stripe account. A completed GenHQ project does not guarantee that funds have already reached your bank.

What currency will I be paid in?

Your display preference, project currency, Stripe transfer currency and bank payout currency can differ. Your connected account’s supported currencies and settlement settings determine how money reaches your bank. Conversion fees or exchange rates may apply. Check the project’s payment record and Stripe payout details rather than assuming the browsing currency is your settlement currency.

When do I receive a payout statement?

The supplier’s GenHQ payout statement records the supplier earnings and deductions for completed work as the payment becomes eligible for release. It is separate from the project owner’s payment receipt and is not proof of a completed bank payout. Check Payouts for the document and current release status.

What if I finish the work before completing payout setup?

Your payout cannot be released until the required setup and verification checks are complete. Follow the Payouts prompts to finish Stripe Connect setup and resolve any restrictions. Completion of the work does not bypass these checks.

Who handles tax on project work?

GenHQ acts as the marketplace agent and accounts for applicable tax on its own fees. The supplier and project owner remain responsible for their own obligations relating to the underlying work or purchase. Review the fee and tax breakdown in your payment records and seek advice for your business and jurisdiction where needed.

Disputes & Support

What to do when a project needs help.

Can I raise a dispute if the work does not match the brief?

Either participant can open a dispute on funded, active work while the dispute action is available and payout has not been released. If an available revision can resolve the issue, that may be the quickest route. Otherwise, describe the problem, include relevant evidence and state your desired outcome in the dispute form.

Do I have to use every revision before opening a dispute?

No. A dispute may be appropriate when a revision cannot address the issue, such as a communication or delivery problem. The available action depends on the funded project’s current state. Requested outcomes are reviewed; opening a dispute does not guarantee a refund or cancellation.

What happens after a dispute is opened?

The other participant is notified and can respond. GenHQ reviews the statements, messages, files and project activity. Ordinary messaging, delivery and payout are paused during the dispute. If no response arrives within five days, the case moves to administrator review; that does not automatically decide the outcome.

How long does dispute resolution take?

GenHQ aims to resolve disputes within five days, but complex or contested cases can take longer. An unresolved dispute requires review and does not automatically release contested funds. Watch the workspace for requests for information and the recorded decision.

Can a supplier open a dispute against the project owner?

Yes. Both participants can use the dispute process when the project is eligible, including an agency acting as either supplier or owner. GenHQ considers the evidence from both sides.

Can I open a project dispute after automatic completion?

The normal project dispute action is no longer available once an order is complete. Review deliveries and raise concerns within the review window. If you discover a problem afterwards, contact support with the project reference so the team can explain the available next steps.

Welcome back.
